Posted under Free Resources, Tools

Want to know how to fend off a shark, save on gas, build a picket fence, or soak a stamp off of an envelope? FindHow.com makes it easy to find authoritative information on how to do just about anything related to your car, career, home, education, family relationships, travel, holidays and more.

You can browse information by category or do a search. The search feature isn’t as intuitive as you might want. When I typed in “how to manage email” the top results were about being or becoming a manager. Still if you need instructions on how to get something done, its a good place to start.

Send Text Messages to Cell Phones from Your Computer

Posted under Resources, Tools

Are you working at your computer and don’t have the time to text messages to people out on the road? Now you can use your email account to send text messages to any cell phone.

To send a text message from your computer determine the correct SMS email format for the recipient’s cell service carrier. See below for SMS email formats for the major carriers. Or if you aren’t sure what carrier the recipient has, you can send a message through TeleFlip’s free service by emailing the recipient’s phonenumber@teleflip.com.

It even works to send the recipient’s reply back to your email instead of your cell phone!

Major Cell Service SMS Email Formats

Alltel: 10-digit phone number@message.alltel.com

AT&T: 10-digit-number@txt.att.net

Sprint: 10-digit phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com

T Mobile: 10-digit phone number@tmomail.net

Verizon: 10-digit-number or vtext nickname@vtext.com

Readers are Leaders…but you can listen too!

Two FREE Audiobooks RISK-FREE from Audible

I just finished reading an article in Success Magazine about Charlie “Tremendous” Jones who built a career on his love of books. Reading has the ability to change lives, a truth that Jones made a mission of. Books not only influenced his life, but he shared them freely with others and discovered it changed their lives as well.

Most people who strive to build a successful business or career know that reading is essential to success, but finding the time can be difficult. Even the suggested 15 minutes a day can get lost with the busyness of life. But while the act of reading is important, you can take advantage of the wisdom books impart by listening as well. Books on tape and downloadable MP3′s now make it possible for you to listen to books in the car, while taking a walk, waiting in the doctor’s office, while cooking dinner…just about anywhere.

Book stores and libraries are a good resource for audio books, but to get a huge selection at a reasonable price, check out Audible where each month you can download one full length (unabridged) book for $14.95 ($7.95 for the first three months) or two books for $22.95. You can put these books on your MP3 player or iPod, or you can burn them to CD’s if you don’t have an digital player. When you consider that these audio books would be over $40 at regular price, its a terrific deal. And possibly tax deductible if its for your business use.

Another option is through iTunes. iTunes doesn’t have a subscription service so the cost per book is a little higher than Audible. But neither does it require a subscription to get a lower price. Another great option at iTunes that makes it worth joining (its free) is the podcasts. Podcasts allow you create your own talk-radio programming that you can listen to at any time. There are 100′s of podcasts on iTunes and nearly all are free.

Work At Home Success Bible … Everything you need to know.

Posted under Career/Jobs, Home Business, Marketing, Small Business, Telecommuting, Tools, Work

My book, The Work At Home Success Bible is on Amazon and available for pre-sale. I can’t tell you how exciting it is to see the book actually coming to life.

I originally pitched a book about telecommuting because there were no books in print that focused on how and where to find legitimate work-at-home jobs. Adams Media wanted a “Bible” for working at home instead. Before taking the project on, I talked to the editor and indicated that if I did a “Bible” it would have to include everything (regardless of book length) that I felt people needed to know. I wanted to write the book that I wish I’d had when I started out. The editor agreed.

The book covers everything from determining the best work-at-home option for you, convincing your boss to let you work at home, conducting a work-at-home job search, starting a business, eBay, affiliate programs, marketing, managing life and work under one roof and more. Plus it has tons of resources for finding jobs, and starting and running a business.

The book is due out December 1, 2008 but you can check it out and pre-order it now.
